Man:   I don’t understand…why are so many foreigners here to see the elections? This radio says some 120 people from 24 EU countries have come to see the polls.

Woman: Yes…it’s true…they have come because they’ve been invited by the Nepali Government. Isn’t it necessary to observe the CA polls?

Man:   Mmmm...I don’t believe this…wife…!!

Woman:  Look at this husband…Why do you talk like this when you know nothing about it?

Man:  What then? Is it that easy to assess elections?

Woman: Oh…look, husband. The international observers will observe elections according to international standards, won’t they? They will work in accordance with their own code of conduct.

Man:  But are they actually going to assess the elections?

Woman: (Laughs) Well…of course they will do it by talking to political parties, candidates, voters, civil society and journalists. They will compare the election to international standards and Nepali law.

Male:  Are they coming to our villages as well? It could be interesting…

Female: Why not?  I’m sure they will. They will be visiting many polling stations both in the villages and towns as well.
